Description of the Doctoral Program in Political Science at the University of Messina
The Doctoral Program in Political Science stems from the understanding that only a multidisciplinary approach, typical of Political Science, can provide adequate tools and methodologies for understanding, orienting, and interpreting the nuanced nuances that characterize the complexity of the contemporary political world in its diverse and varied dimensions and the continuous and rapid evolution of national and supranational democratic political institutions, even in the face of the increasingly dangerous challenges posed by authoritarian regimes and the crisis of confidence affecting, in particular, the institutional structure of the European Union.
The Doctoral Program in Political Science aims to combine theoretical study of "trust and distrust in governments and states" with a historical analysis of the correlation between knowledge, awareness, and "distrust in international governance." It offers a series of studies in the historical, legal, political, and social fields, as well as applied research aimed at scholars and key players in the Italian public debate.
